Getting around one of the toughest bodies of water between Seattle and Alaska. This presentation will offer tips using illustrations and photos to give boaters insight gleaned from my 30 years and several hundred crossings of this challenging strait. Also included are photos of nearby anchorages boaters can use as a staging point to cross the strait.
Award-winning author William Kelly has written about boating for over 30 years with his stories on cruising and navigating the coast from San Francisco to Seward, Alaska appearing in several yachting publications in Canada and the United States. He and his wife, Anne Vipond are the authors of the best-selling guidebook BEST ANCHORAGES OF THE INSIDE PASSAGE which now covers anchorages from the Gulf Islands and Victoria to Fitz Hugh Sound and Bella Bella on the central coast. The new second edition of their book won the honorable mention award from the Society of American Travel Writers in the guidebook category when it was published. In addition to anchorages from Desolation Sound and Broughton Archipelago, the book covers all the difficult passes that lead to the best anchorages of the B.C. coast.
