Ropes are an integral part of your boat, and understanding the advances in today’s rope technology will help you to make more informed choices regarding when and where to use what rope. Topics covered will include; the different types of rope available today, pro’s and con’s of using various ropes, differing applications, and how to properly inspect your line to insure proper performance. A quick splicing demo will also be done.
Joel (26) has over 10 000 miles of offshore experience, having competed in events such as the iconic Fastnet, the Caribbean 600, and the Antigua-Bermuda race. Since September of 2015, he has been a team member of Canadian Ocean Racing, a syndicate that is aimed at the promotion and growth of high performance offshore sailing in Canada. He sails locally in the Farr 30 fleet. Joel has worked for Pro Tech since January of 2016, and has a degree in Materials Engineering.
